Spinal Decompression
What is Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression?
Spinal decompression is achieved by using a specialized table that stretches spinal elements. Patients are invited to lie comfortably in a relaxed setting for the treatment. Each patient is fitted with harnesses that stabilize the spine while allowing for a targeted therapeutic stretch to occur. Every treatment is individualized, designed and performed by a supervising practitioner.
When spinal decompression is achieved, a negative pressure is created in the disc space.
This acts like a vacuum – the negative pressure allows bulging disc material to centralize, reducing the compression and irritation on the nerves that cause pain. However, decompression does more than merely relieve pressure from nerves. During treatment, facet joints are decompressed and the spaces where nerves exit the spine are widened. In conjunction these actions help reduce pain from bulging discs, narrowing, stenosis, degeneration, arthritis and inflammation.
Spinal Care Center’s Comprehensive Spinal Decompression
The treatment team at the Spinal Care Center has treated over 900 patients via non-surgical spinal decompression and offers their unique expertise in this approach. Their experience in treating spinal decompression patients is surpassed by none in this region.
Before decompression therapy begins, an extensive analysis of each patient’s condition is performed and exact treatment needs are determined. Along with decompression’s gentle stretch, our protocol also includes modalities such as heat, ice, electrical muscle stimulation, and rehabilitative exercises. Our spinal care specialists meet every week to discuss each patient and their progress during the comprehensive four to six week treatment plan.
